Join us for Long Island Silent Flyers F5J Summer Contest on June 4-5, 2022. This is an F5J USA Tour and Eastern Soaring League event and will be conducted in accordance with USA Tour rules and guidelines, and FAI F5J rules. Each model flown must be equipped with an approved F5J limiter. Currently approved limiters: https://www.f5j-usa.com/fai-f5j-altimeters/ Per USA Tour rules motor restarts will be allowed but will result in a zero flight. Field open for practice after 12 pm on Friday, June 3, 2022 F5J tasks on Saturday and Sunday, June 4-5, 2022, scored as one continuous event. Awards for 1-3 places in Expert class and 1-3 places in Sportsman class No Fly-offs Entry fee $60 Pilots meeting 8:30 am Saturday and Sunday Flying and awards to be done approximately at 3 pm on Sunday I have arranged for a discount price of $169 for a room with a king or 2 queen beds including free buffet, free wifi and free parking at a local Best Western located less than 5 minutes from the field on 7940 Jericho Tpke, Woodbury, NY 11797. Head east on Long Island Expressway (LIE RT 495), Southern State Parkway or Grand Central Parkway /Northern State Pkwy).
Take these to Rt 135 North, the Seaford Oyster Bay Expressway to Exit 14E Rt 25 East toward Woodbury
Go about .6 miles - Turn left onto Southwoods Road ( golf course on left)
Go about 1.3 miles (past Syosset High School) to Stillwell Field on right.
Go into the parking lot and drive down the right side, past sports fields, to the gate.
Drive slowly, on dirt road watching for walkers and mountain bikers crossing the road (Bike / hiking trails cross the middle of this road) The road will open to a field. Look for tents and cars.
Please avoid disturbing the uncut tall grass for the local wildlife.
