This will be an Altitude Limited Electric Soaring contest based on AMA Competition Rules for event 463. We will be using 5M landing tapes marked at 1/2 meter increments. Any local modifications or exceptions will be set at the pilot's meeting by the CD. https://www.modelaircraft.org/sites/default/files/RCSoaring%202019-2020.pdf
ALES device in the plane will be set to 100, 150 or 200 meters as determined by the CD according to prevailing conditions.
Novice Class Rule Exception: Novice pilots flying Radian, Radian Pro, Radian XL or Night Radian that are using the stock motor and prop may apply to the CD to be allowed to launch based on a 30 second climb rather than an ALES device as LISF has determined that these e-gliders cannot exceed 200M in 30 seconds (time will be adjusted proportionally if a lower altitude is chosen by CD, eg 22.5 seconds for 150M). All other e-gliders will require ALES devices.

From the Northeast, take Whitestone or Throgs Neck Bridge to Cross Island Pkwy then to either Long Island Expressway or Grand Central Parkway (which becomes Northern State Pkwy) East (usually prefer the latter as there is no commercial traffic). Then follow below for Long Island Expressway or Northern State Parkway.
From the South or the West, take 95 to George Washington Bridge. I like to skirt around and avoid going through Manhattan or the Bronx as follows: follow signs to Harlem River Drive as you get off the bridge and don't stay on 95. Follow Harlem River Drive to Robert F. Kennedy Bridge (formerly Triboro Bridge) going through Randall's Island into Long Island, following 278 which will turn into Grand Central/Northern State Pkwy. Then just follow Northern Staten Instructions below.

Go about .6 miles - Turn left onto Southwoods Road ( golf course on left)
Go about 1.3 miles (pass Syosset High School) to Sportsfield on right.
Go into the parking lot and drive down the right side, past sports fields, past the open gate onto the dirt road.
Drive slowly, watching for walkers and mountain bikers crossing the road (Bike trails cross this road) The road will open to a field. Look for tents and cars. Drive along the edge of the field.
Avoid disturbing the uncut tall grass as much as possible.
Food and Drinks - LISF will provide water and soft drinks at no charge. Bring your own lunch as no food will be provided or be available on the field.
Timing - All pilots will be expected to time for other pilots or the contest will not be able to proceed until we have enough timers. Pilots are expected to arrange for a timer prior to coming to the flight line. If you need help, ask. If you have not timed before, this document may be helpful.
