Unlimited Thermal Duration/mixed - Tasks, Rounds, pop off, line breaks and Times to be announced at the Pilots Meeting.
Landing Task - 100 point graduated spot landing, details to be announced at the Pilots meeting.
Contest will be flown random Man-on-Man format, using a golf cart to retrieve lines.
Unlimited means that a pilot can fly a winch-launched model at a contest, an electric-launched model, or a combination of the two. Instead of being separated by launch type, pilots will compete in the existing classes of Sportsman, Novice, or Expert. A pilot in the Sportsman or Expert class can have an Xplorer as his primary plane and a Radian as his backup.
If you used to fly ESL but stopped because you didn’t want to deal with the winch anymore, this will allow you to compete against your friends again. If you are a new sailplane pilot you can start small with a simple electric foamy.
Format:
All classes for the SKSS ESL mixed contest are unlimited with regards to method of launch.
A. Pilots are allowed to have two planes per class. Pilots can fly any type of plane in the event and the pilot is classified by skill level, not wingspan, like 2-meter, open class, standard class, etc. Back- up plane is also pilots' choice.
B. Any class may be flown with a winch-launched model, an electric-launched model, or a mixture of both. During a contest pilots are allowed to switch between different launch type models.
C. Electric models are required to have an altitude-limiting device if their power is likely to exceed a certain amount as determined by the CD. The CD may require a timed cut off for models without a limiting device. All other models will have a 30 second cut-off. It is strongly recommended that electric models be fitted with a limiting device.
D. The limiting device cutoffs for all contests are 3
