I am hoping to attend some more contests this year - last year I attend a handlaunch event and was a bit intimidated - this year i will give her another go but i'd like to be prepared for any contest that comes along as I never know what my schedule is going to look like...I have all the dlg's I need but I have been kind of trying to accumulate some other stuff to fly at some esl events...I have now purchased 2 2m full house ships and an Ava res - my question is - other than dlg what are the other events like? Do 2m classes even exist any more? If I am going to try and fly a few more contests should I just be focusing on open class full house stuff...I don't want to waste time competing in a 2m class if I am the only person in it - just looking for a bit o fun...thoughts appreciated.

There is no seperate 2M class at ESL contests. There are few contests that have a 2M class (NATS and Tangerine)were the only ones I attended
last year. There are a few of us who fly RES planes in open competion
so let know if you are going to fly your AVA and I will bring my RES
Mantis out. Most of the ESL folks fly unlimited ships (lots of Manti and Supras plus a wide assortment of other Unlim. ships.

The CASA Open (Spet. 9,10, 2006) has a RES class.
See www.SoarCASA.org
Stew regularly wins it too!

If you have a 2M, you can still fly that in an open contest. You can also fly the AVA in an open contest.

Bring your 2M and Ava out. Either will fly.. the AVA flies well. I don't know what your 2M's are. Bring what you have and have fun. Only learning how to contest will make you a better flier. It can be alot of fun. Always bring your 2M if you crash your AVA you can fly them. If your 2M are of the right airfoil they may come in handy on windy days...

What kind of 2M are we talking about..

Hope to see you out there this season...

I flew my first ESL event with a Sagitta 600. I had been flying for a season. I finished dead last and had a great time. I am sure you are better than I, so bring that 2M and show these unlimited guys that it is the pilot, not the plane, that wins the contest!
