2009 major expense projections * Line * Maintenance
Changes in ESL positions Oct 4 2008:
President – Ed Anderson
Contest Coordinator/Web Technical editor – Jose Bruzal
Public Relation Coordinator – N/A
HLG liaison – TBD – On going discussion with HLG group
Treasure – David Beach
Score keeper – Anker/Luis
Quartermaster – Steve Lucky
HLG Discussion:
There were further discussions about HLG contests that have not paid the ESL sanction fees for 2008. A solution was provided by the group – If the HLG contestant attending the Polecat HLG event would like to have their scores apply toward the ESL HLG season, the contestant would be required to pay the ESL sanction fee at the time of the Polecat HLG event.
Jose will be responsible to start a conversation with potential appointees in the HLG group to assist in the decision to appoint a HLG liaison. The first year would be considered an appointment to the position. Moving forward with the HLG position would be an electable position within the ESL.
SKSS would like to sponsor an ESL HLG event in 2009. The HLG event will be in addition to the SKSS TD open contest. Date set on proposed ESL calendar.
Equipment: As of Oct 4 2008
Discuss ESL winches, batteries, battery chargers, storage, winch line, quartermaster, and maintenance.
Recognition – Steve, Luis, Pete, Chuck
Winch line – If winch line is needed for the 2009 season, Steve Lucky will order line as needed. The ESL has 10 rolls of 250 pound line. Thanks Steve.
Equipment maintenance and storage – Tony Guide volunteered to maintain the winches for the 2009 season. Maintenance would include brush and armature replacement and any necessary repairs. Tony Guide and Steve Lucky will store the ESL equipment during the winter months.
PR Person as of Oct 6 2007:
During the 2009 season there will no longer be a PR position for the ESL.
ESL History:
Anker volunteered to gather information on the historical facts about the ESL. Historical facts or pictures should be forwarded to Anker.
ESL Newsletter:
The new President of the ESL, Ed Anderson requested content from all members to publish in the newsletter. Example – Contest reports, photos, articles, etc..
Mid –Season ESL sponsored event:
There was discussion about holding a Mid – Season ESL open event for 2009. The ESL membership would be responsible to work the event, much like the ESL EOS event. The event would generate additional income for the ESL. There was also discussion about holding the event in a centralized location much like the Reading EOS. Possible locations are Reading, Delaware, Lancaster. This will be an on going discussion to determine the “where” and the “when”. We already know how. The tentative date for the event is 2009 7/18 – 7/19.
RES Contest?
This season we noticed there were enough contestants showing up on Friday before the ESL open to host a small informal contest. With the rising interest in RES and seeing more Bubble Dancers, AVA, Topaz planes showing up at the flying field, a suggestion was made to hold an informal RES contest on the Friday before the clubs ESL event. The contest would be for bragging rights with no accumulation of ESL points for the season. This decision will be left up to the club hosting the ESL event. Who knows, it may catch on.
Oct 4 2008 - Motion to adjourn was made and approved.

Looks like a mistake in scheduling things in September. Sep 2009 has labor day fairly late. CASA is ALWAYS the weekend after Labor Day. Plus Labor Day weekend is normally US Soaring Team Selection weekend. This year is F3j.
So some adjustments need to be made to the calendar..... |
