Results have been posted for the Canada Cup contest the weekend before the F3j WC in Red Deer. The final results placed Joe Wurts 1st and Tom Kiesling 3rd in the flyoffs.

www.f3x.no seems to have the best event coverage so far.

Looks like Thursday had some tough flying conditions. Tom had two flight groups that did not get the full time. Looks like Tom did some damage to the other pilots in his group in round 4, but I can only guess that he landed out in round 5 and then took a short flight for the remaining time to get some points.

It will be interesting to see how things work with the throwouts. Only 5 pilots have scores averaging over 990/round through 5 rounds. When you get down around 15th, you can already see pilots who have two scores under 900 and lots of scores below 980.

It also looks like Joe Wurts reflight in round two was protested and he has the original flight score.

Red Deer is at a fairly high elevation. For those ESL guys who have never flown in places like Colorado, the sink in the afternoons can be strong enough to put you down on the ground in probably 1 minute from an F3j launch. I've seen 2 minutes from an F3b launch.

Friday weather forcast is for NNW at 10. They should be able to get a bit of flying in. Weather outlook looks bad for Saturday. Windy and some rain. Flying Saturday should be interesting. And Sunday has some rain (depending on whose forcast) and wind in the forcast too. So 15 minutes should be real interesting for the flyoffs.

Round 8 scores are posted now.

Tom did put in two impressive rounds in 7, 8 ,with a 9:56.5 and a 9:57 with 100 landings. I don't know how you get much more time than 9:57 in F3j 10 minute rounds.

Today will be the final rounds of the flyoffs. Joe Wurts is sitting in 3rd place after the first two flyoff rounds. Only two pilots had maxes in the first two rounds. I wonder what time of day they will start the last two flyoff rounds? If it's early, then it will be interesting since 15:00 might not be possible at that time.

Tom Kiesling finished 33rd and Larry Jolly was 34th out of a field of 60.
